It is inevitable for products such as software and operating system to reach their end of life. At this phase the vendor no longer releases security updates. An example is Windows 7. Because these systems can no longer be patched they are at higher risk of compromise. This risk can avoided by decommissioning the system or ir can be mitigate with additional security controls.
